After repainting all of the cabinets (trying to get rid of all that plain wood) I decided that I will go ahead and paint all of the vinyl walls as well. SO HAPPY I DID! WOW do they look better. I didn’t think it would make that much of a difference but it’s definitely a huge difference. I started small with a wall in the kitchen and the bathroom!
I always start by washing whatever I am painting with Savogran 10622 Trisodium Phosphate (TSP) 4.5lbs. This stuff cleans really well especially if you have grimy walls and cabinets. Once I had the wall washed down I tested a couple colors on it to see what I would prefer. I went with Chalk Mountain Supply Quality Chalk Furniture Paint- NON TOXIC-SAFE TO USE INDOORS- Superior Coverage-LOW ODOR & ZERO VOC (16oz) 31 (powder Pink #31). I love it. I was so nervous to paint the vinyl walls but looks so much better. So this is the kitchen wall I had done.
It turned out so awesome that I decided to paint the bathroom walls with Chalk Mountain Supply Quality Chalk Furniture Paint- NON TOXIC-SAFE TO USE INDOORS- Superior Coverage-LOW ODOR & ZERO VOC (16oz) 39 and again LOVE! Such a big difference! I am definitely doing all of the walls!
UPDATE! After painting the bathroom and one wall in the kitchen I realized I didn’t want to wax the walls. I decided to use Minwax 255554444 Minwaxc Polycrylic Water Based Protective Finishes, 1/2 Pint, Gloss over the caulk paint to ensure it lasting and also much easier to clean without taking the paint off. Works Great! Living Room all done now as well! The blotchy-ness is only because it was still drying but I am in LOVE with how the walls are coming out! So much more homey feeling!
